Strengthening Civil Society Organizations
Mali · Agence Française de Développement
This project, funded by the French Development Agency as part of its support program for Sahelian civil society, aimed to sustainably strengthen the action capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Mali. In a context of security fragility, ICE-FRANCE adapted its intervention methodologies to maintain an effective presence on the ground while ensuring the safety of the teams.
The project was organized around three complementary components. The first component focused on the institutional strengthening of partner CSOs: internal governance, financial management, human resources, and communication. The second component aimed at developing technical skills in the intervention sectors of CSOs (health, education, human rights, environment). The third component concerned developing advocacy and political dialogue capacities at the national and regional levels.
Despite security constraints, the ICE-FRANCE team maintained activities in the regions of Bamako, Mopti, Ségou, and Sikasso, adapting the methods of intervention to the realities on the ground. Online training and digital tools were developed to ensure the continuity of activities during movement restriction periods.
The project contributed to the consolidation of a network of CSOs capable of fostering constructive dialogue with public authorities and technical and financial partners.
